Roborock Qrevo Edge C
$2199 at Amazon
Best for: easy vacuuming and hot water mopping
The Roborock Qrevo Edge C stood out to us for its hot-water mopping, which reaches 75°C and is hotter than many of the models we’ve analysed (some even use cold water). This is great for giving your floors a more thorough mopping and keeping the robot vac mop clean – which it also basically does by itself.
Other stand-out features include the powerful 18,500Pa suction for vacuuming, dual anti-tangling system to deal with hair, real-time mapping and voice controls.
It while it has a lot of the same features as the Qrevo Edge – which Better Homes & Gardens Australia’s Tiarne Blackwell summed up as “one of the most convenient vacuums I’ve tried” in her review – it’s missing a few features like the FlexiArm Design Mop and Ultrasonic Carpet Sensing. And it has a lower price point to match.
Key features:
- Zero-tangling main brush and side brush
- 18500pa Hyperforce suction

04
Ecovacs Deebot X8 Pro Omni robot
from $2499, Ecovacs
Best for: high-pressure mopping and vacuuming
Move over Wall-E, this robot vacuum and mop has everything you could ever want in a smart home device.
That includes the industry-first mop roller technology. Instead of the two circular mop heads moving in unison to clean your floorboards and tiles, this robot has one large roller, and it’s capable of a lot. With constant pressure onto the ground for intense cleaning, this roller head can self-clean as it trundles along the floor, supplying fresh water to mop the ground. While most robot vacuums and mops will have to return to their cleaning station frequently to clean their mopheads, this one does it while working.
If you’re more into the vacuuming side of things, the Ecovacs Deebot X8 Pro Omni has got that all sorted out too. With 18000Pa suction power, your carpets will be spick and span. ZeroTangle 2.0 technology means that pesky hairs won’t get tangled around your brush, while efficient path planning ensures no obstacle is too small or quirky to maneuvre around.
“Setup was a breeze and the LiDar made the initial mapping a very fast process. Obstacle avoidance appears to work very well so far. The roller mop is the standout feature though – combined with the very powerful adaptive suction it made my old robot vac look very poor in comparison,” one customer said in a 5-star review on the Ecovacs website, where it has a 4.8-star average from over 17 customer reviews.
Key features:
- Industry-first OZMO ROLLER technology combines constant pressure and instant self-washing mopping in one system
- TruEdge 2.0 Adaptive Edge Cleaning ensures spotless floors right up to the very edges
- Powerful 18,000Pa suction automatically adjusts to floor type for thorough cleaning from hard floors to thick carpets
- Efficient path planning selects optimal routes, reducing unnecessary turns and eliminating inefficient movements
- AIVI 3D 3.0 technology uses Visual-Language Model and deep learning for precise object recognition and rapid contour extraction
- AI Instant Re-Mop intelligently identifies and targets areas needing deeper cleaning for stubborn dirt and stains
- YIKO-GPT powered by generative AI understands user intent through text, voice, or conversation to deliver precise, intelligent feedback
- Up to 224 minutes of battery charge

Best for: stylish and efficient vacuuming
The Miele Scout RX3 is designed to make vacuum cleaning easier, with 3D Smart Navigatoin, an auto mode for all-round vacuuming, as well as Spot Clean, Turbo Mode and Silence Mode, which are all handy in specific situations. For example, you could have your home vacuumed while you sleep using Silence Mode, or deal with a particularly gritty bit of carpet using Turbo Mode.
While this is one of the only robot vacuums without a mopping function that we’ve included here, it’s proved popular with customers, with one Australian shopper on Amazon saying: “I’ve tried multiple robot vaccums and this one is my favourite. One of the most quiet robot vaccum[s]. Great for thick rugs and long hair. The dual bristles are great for corners.”

How to choose the best robot vacuum and mop for your household
While early robot vacuum and mop models could seem more of a gimmick than a game-changer, technology and design investments mean that newer models offer a lot of impressive features and resulst.
“Today’s models offer powerful suction, smart navigation, and self-emptying functions, as well as mopping capabilities to clean your floors more effectively,” Appliances Online category expert Colin Jones tells Better Homes & Gardens Australia. “
Many now also use AI-driven technology to learn and adapt to your home’s layout for better cleaning efficiency. You can even track and manage cleaning sessions from your mobile device, deciding where the robot should go and where it shouldn’t.”
With so many options on the market now, choosing the best model for your household can seem daunting. So we asked Colin Jones for some details on what factors to consider before investing in a robot vacuum.
Flooring
“One of the first factors to consider when purchasing a robotic vacuum is what flooring your home has. If your home has tiles and timber flooring, then dirt on your floor will be collected by even the most basic robotic vacuum cleaners, such as Eufy Robovac 11S Slim or Ecovacs Deebot OZMO-T8AIVI.”
Mopping function
“For medium to larger households, customers may want to consider purchasing a robotic vacuum with a few more features, such as sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping capabilities. These dual-functionality units are great for families with a larger space and perhaps young kids,” Colin says.
“There are always spills, so having the mopping functionality removes the pain of bringing out a large mop and bucket. Simply switch on your robotic vacuum, which will detect the wet surface and automatically turn on its mopping capabilities, such as the Roborock S5.”
He adds that most models have mop cloths that are cleaned and rinsed while the vacuum is working, “so you don’t need to worry about manually washing them”.
“Some robot vacuums also feature intelligent water dispensing. This allows the robot to adjust the amount of water used depending on how dirty the area is, which helps improve cleaning performance while using water more efficiently.”
Auto-mapping
“Another factor to consider is whether your household has any avoidance systems. These avoidances can be a rug, table, or, most commonly, your stairs. Some models have laser auto mapping capabilities that will allow the unit to scan and analyse your home and automatically adjust to any avoidances in the room (however, you can also let the unit know of these avoidances beforehand through the app).
“Many people worry that if they have stairs in their homes, the vacuum will fall down. That will definitely not happen. Robotic vacuums are great at knowing when there is a shift in the flooring, so they will stop right below or above your stairs.”
Filtration and cleaning power
“These robot vacuums don’t just dock and empty themselves—they also clean really well. Most models have strong suction, great filters, and can clean different types of floors like hardwood, carpet, or tile. They pick up dust, dirt, pet hair, and debris easily without missing anything,” Colin explains.
Some models even have smart sensors that can detect dirtier areas and clean them more thoroughly. “This ensures your floors are left spotless, and you don’t have to worry about any spots being missed.”
